According to one of the Mythical genealogy from a 17th century writer named Nimat-ullah Al-Herawi in his book;Tārīkh-i Khān Jahānī wa Makhzan-i Afghānī, the abdali tribe descended from Abdal, who was son of Tarin, who was son of Sharkhbun, who was son of Sarban, who was son of Qais-Abdur-Rashid, he was son of Afghana, who is considered as a grandson of Israelite king Saul and a commander-in-chief of Prophet Sulieman. its said that Qais was a contemporary of Prophet Mohammad(Pbuh), and when Khalid-ibn-Walid summoned him from Ghor to Medina, he became muslim and Prophet Mohammad(Pbuh) gave him the nickname Abdur-Rashid which means "Servant of Allah", then he came back to Ghor and introduced Islam to them. he had three sons, one of them had white skin, so the called him Spin(means White in Pashto), the other one had black skin, so they called him Tor(means Black in Pashto), the third son was Abdal (Awdal), whom Durrani's relates to.
